Broad Ripple is one of the oldest, most architecturally distinct neighborhoods on the north side of Indianapolis, built up primarily in the 1920s through 1950s around the arts and canal district. Bungalow, Tudor, and American Foursquare homes dominate the housing stock, most with steep-pitch original rooflines and narrow lots that make staging tear-off material more constrained than a suburban subdivision. Many homes here have gone through multiple roof replacements over their history, and older decking or non-standard framing from a century of small renovations is common enough that we plan for it rather than assume every roof deck is code-standard before we get up there.
